  • A map of the metro's of DC itself is shown below, note that not all Fallout 3 Metro's will be seen here. Click for closer view, or alternatively click this link for the bigger picture. This is a list of these said metro's, and they were organized in alphabetical order. The list goes up to down, and then up again.

Apples and oranges mate. Two completely different genre's so its hard to say which game is 'better', it caters to different audiences. The only similarity is that they are both First person games, that's it (With Fallout 3 having the ability to switch to 3rd person). If you ask me they are both good games. If you are a person who enjoys freeroaming, doing whatever you want in a massive world, then Fallout 3 is for you, but if you are a gamer who enjoys a strong solid storytelling experience that's a bit cinematic as well, then you will enjoy Metro 2033's linearity. That's not to say Fallout 3 doesn't have a good story though, but because of its open world nature its hard to set a stage to have the story flow perfectly in a way a linear game would have it because the story/gameplay on linear games is on a straight path on rails so it can control the immersion of the player to the story better.A big pro of open world RPG games line FAllout3 is the amount of content it has, and all the mods you can add, adding greatly to how many hours you can spend in the game doing different things. I like them both. FO1 was ok, I've never finished FO2, FO3 is great, FO NV is great.

All the Metro games are great, although there's really only 2 with 2 versions of each. I think Metro is more immersive. It took me a couple playthroughs of Metro 2033 to just get what was going on. I didn't like Last Light my first playthrough, it took a second time with Ranger mode DLC to really get into it. As of now, I've probably logged 1,000+ hours in FO3 and NV, a little over 300 hours in Metro. I think the Metro games provide a better story and far better combat.

FO3 and NV have almost an MMO atmosphere, tons of stuff to see and do, NV has so many quests and so many NPC's to meet and choices to make with real in game consequences (like hit squads and reputation). Metro has a deep story, great atmosphere, they're visually stunning and have intellectual depth.

You really need to take your time and see and hear everything. If you just run through them it's great fun, but you'll miss the massive amount of detail involved in the story. Now Wasteland 2, that's the game that doesn't hold up to the Metro games or FO3 or NV. It's not as bad as FO2, but it has many of the flaws that FO1 had in my opinion. Besides the story just falling apart, it's really boring. I kept playing it waiting for the good stuff and found out it's just meh. Anyway, I say get them all and decide for yourself what you like best.

Fallout 3 Metro Map

Back when fallout 3 was new I spent hours figuring out how top get around in those tunnels, it was SO confusing. Then my family decided to take a trip DC and it turned out my memorised fallout metro map was close enough to the real world to help get us around.
